In the late summer of 2001 Milton Wheeler was informed that in the Fall there was to be a Christian Men's Chorus Festival in Mountain View California. There were to be groups from both Northern and Southern California participating. Mr. Wheeler, himself a former music teacher, put out the call to former students and select church members from all over the Greater Bay Area. He gathered a group of 35 men from as far north as Vallejo as far to the west as Watsonville and all points in-between. In October following the aftermath of 9/11 the Bay Area Men's Chorus performed along with the other groups at an emotionally charged festival.
The Group Today
What Mr. Wheeler originally imagined as a one performance group became a continuing musical ministry. Many of the original members are still with the group today. Our members come from all walks of life; doctors, teachers, engineers, retirees, administrators, hi-tech, low-tech and more. We are drawn together by our love of singing and using our talents to praise God's name. We average between 20 and 25 men along with our outstanding accompanist, Carol Morgan at a performance. We perform at churches all over the Northern and Central California area. It was our honor to be invited to sing at Carnegie Hall but do to short notice we were unable to do so.

Our Mission
It is our desire to bring the Word of God to His children through our voices lifted in song. For all of us the music we perform is our passion. As Mr. Wheeler often says as we come to the end of a worship performance. "It is our hope that you have been blessed today by our music. It is our hope that you have been lifted to a higher place as we close with our final song "Higher Ground"
